The new Draft Sligo County Development Plan, 2017 to 2023, is on public display from Wednesday 21st September 2016 and submissions are invited from members of the public on or before 4 pm on Wednesday 30th November 2016. This is the main phase of public consultation for the new Plan as it allows the public to comment on a full draft of the new Plan, including the Written Statement, and associated documents.
The Draft County Development Plan sets out the planning policies and objectives, for the County Area, as presented in Volume 1 and includes a number of Draft Mini-Plans for numerous smaller settlements as presented in Volume 2. The Draft Sligo County Development Plan does not include Sligo Town and Environs, which is the subject of a current Local Area Plan, and is due to be reviewed as a new Draft Local Area Plan when the current Draft Sligo County Development Plan comes into effect, around April 2017. Similarly, the Draft County Development Plan does not include the towns of Enniscrone, Ballymote or Tubbercurry which are currently or will be the subject of separate future Local Area Plans.
The associated documents include supporting environmental assessments, including in relation to flood risk and impact on European ecological sites. In addition, the Council has taken to opportunity to propose additions to the Record of Protected Structures and these also form part of the draft Plan documentation.
Full details of the proposed Draft Sligo County Development Plan and supporting documents can be found on the County Council’s website. This also includes details of where the proposed Draft Development Plan is available for inspection across the County and details of proposed information sessions.
