Planning Week 2017 is a new initiative organised by the Irish Planning Institute taking place from 6th - 10th November. Planning Week provides an opportunity to explore planning (also known as spatial, physical, town or urban and regional planning) and the planning profession through events, activities and planning visits. It takes place in parallel with World Town Planning Day on 8th November.
Founded in 1975, the Irish Planning Institute is the all-island professional body representing professional planners who are graduates of professionally-accredited third level colleges or universities working in places such as local authorities and private practice.
Planning is a very exciting and diverse career. It is about taking the longer term perspective, to think of the future and take the time to bring that future to life for the good of a place and all of its citizens. It's about making places better so that people can have somewhere to live, work, shop, access services, spend leisure time, experience nature close by, and get around easily, both in urban and rural areas.
