On 15th June 2016 Kildare County
Council granted planning permission for a 10MW Solar PV array at Timahoe
West, Coolcarrigan, County Kildare. The development comprises the
provision of 66,000 sq. m of Solar PV panels within an overall site area
of approx. 17.8 Ha (44 acres). The proposal also includes the provision
of associated control cabins, inverter units, security fencing,
underground cabling, site entrance, CCTV stands and landscaping.
This planning permission represents a grant
for the largest ground based Solar PV array in the Republic of Ireland,
in terms of MW output. This grant of permission demonstrates that large
scale solar arrays can be accommodated on suitable sites. Kildare County
Council took account of archaeology, built heritage and ecology among
other things, in making their decision.
McCarthy Keville O’Sullivan Limited is
delighted to have led this project through the design and planning
process to a final decision to grant by Kildare County Council.
