Updated Exempted Development Regulations to Increase Housing Supply

The Planning and Development Regulations are in the process of being updated by the Department of Housing, Planning, Community + Local Government (DoHPCLG). It is understood these new regulations will include some form of exemption for a change of use from commercial to residential use. The purpose of the anticipated changes is to help alleviate the current housing crisis. These exempted development measures were previously identified in the Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness (Rebuilding Ireland) published in July 2016.

We intend to update with further details when they are made available.
