We previously reported that Clare County Council had begun the process to prepare a new County Development Plan for the period 2017-2023. The Council has just published a draft of the new County Plan.
The new Plan covers all of County Clare and sets out the planning strategy, policies and objectives for the period up to 2023. It also sets out the Core Strategy for the County, including population growth targets and growth allocations to individual settlements. As well as the County-wide Plan, there are detailed written statements and zoning maps for each of the County’s four municipal districts (Ennis, Shannon, Killaloe and West Clare).
The new Clare County Development Plan 2017 – 2023 will replace the existing County Development Plan, the Kilrush Town and Environs Development Plan and the Ennis and Environs Development Plan. It will also supersede the current geographical Local Area Plans.
The Plan’s associated documents also include supporting environmental assessments, such as flood risk and impact on European ecological sites. In addition, the Council is proposing to make additions to the Record of Protected Structures and consolidate the existing record of such structures.
The draft Plan and supporting documents are available for inspection and written submissions up to 29th February 2016. This is the main phase of public consultation and is your chance to influence the future development of the County.
There are full details on the draft Plan and supporting documents on the County Council’s website. This also includes details of upcoming public information events across the County.
Please contact us at McCarthy Keville O’Sullivan if you would like professional advice on the draft Plan or assistance with making a written submission. The closing date for receipt of written submissions/observations is Monday 29th February 2016.
