On 21st February 2017 Clare County Council issued a final grant of planning permission for a 6.8MW Solar PV array at Knockanulty, Ennistymon, County Clare. The development comprises the provision of 43,500 sq. m of Solar PV panels within an overall site area of approx. 15.4 Ha (38 acres). The proposal also includes the provision of associated control cabins, inverter units, security fencing, underground cabling, site entrance, CCTV stands and landscaping.
The planning authority took account of various issues in their assessment of the planning application including natural heritage, built heritage and archaeology. This planning permission and the future development of the solar array will contribute to Ireland meeting its international and European obligations in relation to carbon emissions and renewable energy.
McCarthy Keville O’Sullivan Limited is delighted to have led this project through the design and planning process to a final decision to grant by Clare County Council.
